Water Sprite (Ceratopteris thalictroides)

Add lush greenery and texture to your aquarium with Water Sprite, a fast-growing, versatile plant loved by aquarists for its delicate, lace-like leaves and easy care. This adaptable species can be grown rooted in substrate or floating freely, making it an excellent choice for both aquascapes and breeding tanks. Each bunch includes 3–4 healthy stems, ready to provide instant coverage and a natural, vibrant look to your aquarium.

Water Sprite is perfect for beginners and experienced hobbyists alike. It grows quickly under moderate light and helps absorb excess nutrients, reducing algae growth while oxygenating your tank. Fish and shrimp love hiding among its feathery leaves, and fry use it as safe shelter during early stages.

Care Guidelines:

  • Lighting: Low to medium

  • Placement: Midground, background, or floating

  • Temperature: 68-82°F

  • pH Range: 6.0-7.5

  • Growth Rate: Fast

  • Propagation: Side shoots and cuttings

Important Note:
Like many aquarium plants, Water Sprite may shed a few older leaves or “melt” slightly while adjusting to new water parameters. Simply trim any damaged portions, and new growth will quickly appear as the plant acclimates.

Why Choose Water Sprite:

  • Grows rooted or floating, highly versatile

  • Rapid grower that helps control algae

  • Provides excellent shelter for fry and shrimp

  • Beginner-friendly and low-maintenance
